programs asociated with React 1.0
if React will be OS for wide area of users, it should contains all musthave programs. i`m proposing:
archiver (TugZip)
calculator
cd/dvdburner (CDBurnerXP Pro)
codecs (mp3, divx, flash etc.)
dos (FreeDos)
disk defragmenter, scandisk
media player (audio, video, ra, qt) (Winamp)
office programs (OpenOffice)
pdf viewer
pics viewer (Irfan View)
simple painting program
simple text writer (AbiWord)
sound volume regulator
web browser (Firefox) , e-mail program (Thundebird), instant messaging (Jabber)
React should also have compatibility with polish language and SCSI CDROM bootin

I'd hope ROS would only be the OS and then the software packaging would be handled by vendors. The vendors should aim high for a decent distribution.
My thoughts for 1.0:
activesync clone
calc clone
character map
clipboard clone
clock
cmd-replacement
conversion tool
c compiler (gcc?)
dialer clone
download manager
drive cleanup (not necessarily a defrag)
emacs
ftp client
gaim-like tool (rather than another messenger clone)
help clone
magnifier-replacement
narrator-replacement (seems like there is an oss project for one)
on-screen keyboard replacement
metaedit tool (to hack the meta-tags)
msinfo32-replacement
open source WYSIWYG editor
Open Office 2.0 (skip older 1.x version)
pkzip clone
pdf reader
power management tool
quicklaunch bar clone
regedit-replacement
registry cleanup
reminders/alert service
ros explorer (how about ROSE.EXE as a simpler name?)
screen capture tool
shared folder manager (clear cut view of vulnerable shares)
sndrec32-replacement
systray clone
taskbar clone
task manager (preferably somewhat an x-kill clone!)
task scheduler (AT or cron-ish)
telnet
thumbnail viewer
ticket tape service (a simple scrolling tool to pipe feedback into)
tour ROS (tour XP clone)
vim editor (great little tool that MS should put into Windows)
wmplayer-replacement
Post 1.0:
addressbook clone
backup-replacement
boot loader
briefcase clone (file sync'r, not necessarily a desktop briefcase)
cardfile clone
cd writer
disk defrag
e-book reader
fax clone
icon editor
open source pdf writer
open source scanner and OCR
open source SQL (mySQL?)
parental controls
poledit-replacement
remote desktop clone
rstrui-replacement
terminal services
VoIP client
winzip clone

Hmm..
How important do you think you are??!Can the LEADER of the React process tell me the list of those apps?
If you would have researched about about the ROS project, you would know how ros handles external apps.

ReactOS 0.3.0 svn (that Unreal Tournament works on)
You seem to be missing the point.
When ROS reaches 1.0, you should be able to install pretty much any windows package you want, so most of the programs you mentioned won't be included, it'll be up to you to download and install your prefered one.
There will be links to lots of recommended software on the homepage of ROS' built in web browser (ibrowser) something along the lines of the following http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gedmurphy/index.html

Recommended Software
Well why don't we move to the wiki, so everyone can add their choice of software they recommend both Open, Closed and Commercial Software as a jumpstart for the PackageManager guys?Gedi wrote:You seem to be missing the point.

Note that the ibrowser default page will only contain free, open source software. This is completly seperate from the package manager project.
Re: Recommended Software
That's wrong here is lot's of non free stuff.Gedi wrote:Note that the ibrowser default page will only contain free, open source software.
