The GUI isn't working because the message handling of this app is grossly
incorrect. It currently consists of a modal dialog plus 2 modeless dialogs (the
tabs). Besides, it lacks a (correct) message loop for the modeless dialogs,
causing the non-working controls. To do:
- make it modeless only
- fix the message loop
